Become One With Music And Nature…

We teach students how to play the piano, violin, flute and guitar with a beautiful tone where music they play freely flows like a waterfall… We integrate, in our lessons, what feels natural with proper body mechanics and European technique to help students find their own voice.

The Conservatoire is an educational non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that is promoting the preservation of good music as well the conservation of nature. Please help us fund scholorships for needing students, and support our project of building an outside stage that will enable more people to enjoy European School of Music concerts in a nature setting.

...real beautiful music is a search of our deep inner being, a healthy touch of life, and nature fully shared...

The Conservatoire is an education organization that is promoting the preservation of music and classical music as well the preservation of nature

SE Nature Society is part of The Conservatorie Group and packed full with Georigia waterfall resources for any outdoor lover.

Georgia's waterfalls have never received the attention that those of neighboring North Carolina and Tennessee have. This website is the realization of a resource that Georgia has sorely needed for years. The site is now home to listings for over 700 waterfalls, following many months of work. Each listing has waterfall coordinates, basic access info, and a photo. If you find a missing waterfall or inaccuracies related to existing waterfall listings, please let us know through the "Submit a Waterfall" form on the site!

You can search for waterfalls on this site using one of three ways. The Waterfalls by County tab splits the waterfalls into North Georgia's 14 counties with waterfalls. The Waterfall Index tab divides the waterfalls alphabetically. The Waterfall Map tab features an interactive map with locations of every waterfall on this site, allowing you to easily pan into any specific region that you're interested in

The Conservatoire includes European School of Music and the SouthEast Nature Society. They share with everyone all that music and nature has to offer us as well as educating children and adults about how vital it is conserve both.

Piano Duo (student and teacher) performance on the stage at our beautiful acoustic concert hall used for student recitals

Our own recital hall has a display of portraits of classical composers, beautiful nature paintings, and panoramic windows with mulberry trees visible in the background. All of this creates a special atmosphere for performers, inspiring them to do their best on the stage.

Our students also have the opportunity to perform outside in nature settings like Chastain Park, where they can become one with music and nature.

The music in the video above imitates the sounds of singing birds. You can hear the very strong connection between music and nature in this unique performance.

The Southeast Nature Society was founded by our own music student, Mark Oleg, who had always been amazed by the connection between music and nature. In college, where he combined conservation biology and neuroscience, he is researching the influence of music and nature on the learning process and has uncovered their many benefits.

He found Angelica Falls, a 65 feet waterfall in North Georgia. It is one of the ten new waterfalls that he discovered and documented. His study of music and chess at European School of Music from early childhood influenced the development of important learning skills and creativity. This spurred his success in nature writing and photography as well as discoveries of new waterfalls and nature overlooks.

To enhance that feeling, the European School of Music is establishing a new, free Music & Nature Club.  We will bring together students of all levels (ages 7 and up) to discuss their feelings about music and nature, share recent experiences with nature-themed music pieces, and even showcase their own compositions. At club gatherings, our instructors will also perform and discuss nature-themed music pieces

Students who participate in our Music & Nature Club will also learn about the programs of the Southeast Nature Society, which feature educational information about Georgia waterfalls and the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Using the society's comprehensive database of Georgia's hundreds of waterfalls, GA waterfalls.com, thousands of people have discovered a variety of one-day and overnight trips that immerse them in nature. For our students and their families, it also gives new inspiration for learning music as there is a strong connection between both. Nourishing your well-being by immersing yourself in the peacefulness of nature and music is an important part of the recipe for happiness!

The Magnicficant Lulu Falls

Over the past 28 years, European School of Music has been featured many times in national and local Atlanta area publications, and has received grants in recognition of its contributions to music education as well as interdisciplinary development of children that helps to succeed in academic studies.

Our teachers from Europe and the United States have been working together at The Conservatoire for almost three decades. They are highly educated and trained professionals, a unique music family, united by mutual passion, a European teaching philosophy, and the best music learning approach for children and adults alike.

The high professional level of teachers at the European School of Music allows our students to achieve any goal: whether that is to learn how to play or sing just for fun, or to study music at a professional level.

As a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3), educational organization, the European School of Music depends on volunteer support as well as the generosity of the community to help fund scholarships for students from needy families, who cannot afford music lessons otherwise.  Also for students who are identified through auditions as being specially gifted. In addition to this, funds will go toward concerts, facility services, equipment needs, and maintaining and expanding the nature educational websites.

The Conservatoire is grateful for donations of both time and money from our volunteers to help develop young artists and promote the teaching and performance of fine classical and contemporary music in Atlanta, and raising the awareness in children and adults of the importance of keeping nature pristine and decreasing pollution in nature.

With great support and encouragement from students and their parents, nature lovers, supporters and business partners in education, The Conservatoire will continue its mission to enrich the lives of children and adults in our community with the priceless treasures of music and nature, which is vital for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Become one with music and nature!  In addition to student recitals in the ESM recital hall that are open to the public, The Conservatoire's students perform for the community in nature settings to emphasize the connection between nature and music.

Our teachers at European School of Music are very dedicated and compassionate, and are highly trained music instructors and performers. Most have been at ESM for a long time, some for over 25 years. They appreciate the opportunity to give back what they received from their extensive music and pedagogical training. We feel we are one big music family, and treat every student as being part of that family. We want to help more children become part of our music family - with your help.

Many many thanks for your donations and support!

Currently at European School of Music we have children from a number of families who either are not able to continue with their music lessons, or have not been able to start giving their children lessons because of their financial situations. For example...

A new family came to us this fall. (Recent legal immigrants, the father is working as a baker. Mother has no job.) The mother used her own savings to pay for lessons for two months for her two children. One plays the violin and is very talented. The younger sibling is learning to play the piano. But now the savings are running out, and they cannot afford to pay for their lessons.

The Conservatoire has established a business partners in education and supporters program that enables it to serve the community on a larger scale. We will be grateful for your contributions!

Enrich Your Life & Others

With great support and encouragement from students and their parents, nature lovers, supporters and business partners in education, the Conservatoire has a mission to enrich the lives of children and adults in our community with the priceless treasures of music and nature will continue its mission to enrich the lives of children and adults in our community with the priceless treasures of music and nature, which is vital for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Please Help Us!

“...I am hoping that once I have a house I can have a piano once again so I can play all the beautiful music you  have taught me. I have been able to apply techniques and skills I learned from European School of Music to my daily life too! Like how slow meticulous practice at home will allow for smoothness when you're going faster to perform; to feel entirely with your body; each note and key has a specific significance in that moment.. and so much more! Thank you for everything...”

Was the greatest gift I could have given him (my son).

"My son, Daniel, began taking piano lessons when he reached 5. He had a wonderful teacher and supportive family members. He learned that keeping up with practice was easier than catching up and even with an active sports life and serious homework, he not only stuck with it but grew from learning to play the piano. He will tell you that it helped him in school and playing classical, jazz and rock didn't hurt his social life either. Giving Daniel the opportunity to learn to play the piano at The European School of Music and Chess (he also took chess lessons and liked that as well) was the greatest gift I could have given him. Great school!!"

The European School of Music helped shape the musician that I am today.

"The European School of Music helped shape the musician that I am today.  From my studies at the School I learned how to develop my own individual voice at the piano and was offered a unique approach to music and art.  The techniques and methods I acquired prepared me for my journey as a pianist in the professional music world."

- Benjamin Warsaw, PhD. Graduate of the European School of Music, Eastman School of Music, Boston University. Professor of Music - Piano, Armstrong University

Their teachers are extremely skilled and gifted with young children

"This school is one of the best investments we've made for our daughters, ages 5 and 7. They have been taking private piano lessons here since each of them were just 3.5, and we're so pleased at all they're learning at such young ages in just a couple short years. Their teachers are extremely skilled and gifted with young children and is teaching them things like critical thinking and relaxation techniques, confidence and composure, in addition to playing the piano with beautiful technique and tone. We enjoy the school so much that we've also enrolled in a mommy-and-me music class for our 10-mo. old, as well, and chess lessons for the older two. Highly recommend this school to anyone.”

-- Anna K. Falcon, Mother

Everything that I've learned at the school will stay with me forever.

"The school taught me about the meaning behind each song, the emotions in it, not just the notes ... everything that I've learned at the school will stay with me forever."

- European School of Music graduate, Dr. Christina Theodoris, MD/PhD of Harvard's Boston Children Hospital

The best music education I have ever had.

“The best music education I have ever had. I have taken lessons from many teachers over the years but European School of Music has had the greatest positive impact on my ability to express the deep emotions in the music. When life is difficult, I go to the piano and get lost in the music. It's a wonderful relaxation."

- Peter Cranwell, adult piano student

I highly recommend this school...

"Both my daughters attend this school, and have been able to set a solid foundation in piano (with Aleksandra) and have progressed well over the past 2 years. They have each been able to select a focus instrument (violin and voice) and are receiving a world class musical education. Their lessons are tailored to their individual style and are challenging but fun. Especially if your child shows interest and natural ability with music, I highly recommend this school to help shape a child’s musical foundation and cultivate a love for music.”

- Colleen Longbons, Mother

I value the School for many reasons

My two sons, now 13 and 10 years old, have been studying piano at the school for approx. 5-6 years. They had the same teacher for their first phase of tuition (~5 years).  She had the magic formula of keeping the instruction flexible and systematic, but without pressure. Our two children have very different capabilities and learning styles, but this school has managed to get the best out of both. In January this year, after a Christmas recital, the director of the school advised us that the boys, especially my older son, might consider changing piano teacher to experience instruction in different musical styles, piano ensembles, and for competition. It was a hard decision, but we made the change. Their playing has continued to improve greatly which is very satisfying.

I value the school for many reasons: It has been able to adapt the instruction for each of my sons; it reviews the progress of students during lessons and during recitals and periodically makes adjustments for the students; it is easy to maintain a good dialog with the teachers and the director, who are both engaged and supportive; and the school has its own recital hall with two grand pianos on stage which we can use occasionally for practice and videos.  Finally, the school does not have any snobbery regarding musical styles or genres. It is rooted in European classical music, but it embraces modern composers and popular music too, an important element for us.

Parents and students at a performance in our recital hall at our 20th Anniversary

Every year we have holiday recitals where students and teachers perform. It is very inspiring - seeing teachers perform at a children's recital, setting an example for students to grow their skills. The performance definitely carries across the holiday spirit! We have a dream to build an outside stage in a nature setting on our campus. This way more people could come from our communities experience the spirit of music and nature together. We need support to make this happen.
